The New Year literally rolled in like a gentle wave on a sandy beach. On January 4th, we flew to Eleuthera in the Bahamas to celebrate our longtime friend Melissa’s 60th birthday. We were joined by her family and a few friends. We credit Melissa for encouraging our pursuit of exhibiting at fine art shows across the country. It was great fun whenever we connected with her at shows in Atlanta, Chattanooga, and Charlotte, just to name a few. We’re truly grateful for the push she gave us to take our business in this direction.
If you live in a cold climate like us, we hope these pictures bring a bit of warmth to your day!
We also enjoyed some canine therapy, thanks to a few friendly dogs at the beach that would wander by and hang with us.
Back to a Dazzling Reality…
January can be cold and gray in Wisconsin, but the birthstone for this month is anything but! Garnets exhibit an extraordinary range of colors, including red, pink/purple, citrus and burnt orange, and grassy greens. Respectively, they are called pyrope garnets, rhodolite garnets, spessartite garnets, and tsavorite garnets. There are even color-change garnets that shift from pink/purple in incandescent light to green/blue in daylight or fluorescent light. With a hardness of around 7 on the Mohs scale, they are easy to wear, and the gem's colors are always natural and sure to please!
14K peach gold pendant perfectly frames a cushion cut garnet. Small pockets of this unusual color were found in Tanzania.
Graceful waves of gold embrace this rhodolite garnet.
We paired our “Connections” design pendant with these color-change garnets sourced in Tanzania
It is difficult to capture the rich and vibrant color of these Garnets in a photograph, their full beauty is best seen in person.
Lustrous, freeform pearl speaks volumes on its own, so we opted for a subtle accent stone – yet another type of garnet called demantoid.
Garnets from all over the world! Which color delights you?
